Education

Dr. Elms graduated as valedictorian from Kilgore High School. He attended Texas A&M University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in zoology and graduated cum laude in 1986.

He enrolled at Baylor College of Dentistry, and graduated in the top 5% of his class with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Remaining at Baylor, Dr. Elms completed an orthodontic certificate and a Master of Science from Baylor College of Orthodontics.

Dr. Elms was honored numerous times for his scholastic achievements, including induction into several honor societies and honor fraternities. He received the American Association of Orthodontists’ Outstanding Student Award.

Professional Memberships

Dr. Elms is a board-certified orthodontist, a Diplomate with the American Board of Orthodontics, and an active member of the:

  • Texas Association of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association
  • Texas Dental Association
  • World Federation of Orthodontists

In addition, Dr. Elms has served as president of the Brazos Valley District Dental Society and delegate to the Texas Dental Association.

Awards and Distinctions

For over two decades, Dr. Elms has been an Invisalign® Top 1% Provider and has successfully treated nearly 2500 patients with this clear aligner process.

As a result of the care he and his staff provide, as well as the incredible smiles they create, Stewart Elms Orthodontics has been recognized by The Best of the Brazos Valley magazine for more than fifteen years and also as The Eagle’s Readers’ Choice more than a decade and a half.

Beyond the Practice

Although he grew up in Kilgore, Dr. Elms and his wife Caren have called College Station home since 1991. Here they’ve raised their three now-grown sons, welcomed two daughter-in-laws, and currently enjoy spending time serving together in marriage ministry at their church.

When he’s not working, Dr. Elms also enjoys snow skiing, scuba diving, and traveling, At home, he can often be found reading a great book.

Dr. Elms is passionate about his faith and serves in church leadership with Grace Bible Church. He also cares deeply about Bryan/College Station. He is a member of the fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1986.  He has also served in leadership positions with many local organizations, including with OPAS, Brazos Valley Young Life, Brazos Valley Chorale, and Brazos Valley Red Cross.

Dr. Elms is active in the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce. He has  volunteered as a coach for College Station Little League and as an assistant coach with College Station Soccer League.
